General Liability
Why You May Need Umbrella
Insurance? Every small business is vulnerable to a huge
lawsuit. Just think about the last time you heard in the
news about a multi-million dollar lawsuit settlement these
days. Umbrella insurance basically extends your coverage
beyond the limits of your basic business liability
insurance. It acts as an excess layer over your primary
liability policy.
The umbrella insurance policy limits provide additional liability
insurance coverage after the limits of your underlying
policy are exhausted.
For example, what if several of your customers got injured
on your property and collectively required medical
treatment for $1.5 Million but the liability limit of your
basic insurance policy is $1 M.? If you purchased an
umbrella insurance policy for a $1 M., it would cover the
additional $500,000 in medical expenses as long as you are
found liable.
